Acceptance and Gratitude

For the month of January, 2019

From its signature product The Divine Dog Wisdom Cards, Enlighten Up LLC features one of 62 cards with its theme, phrase and some excerpted words for reflection from the deck’s wise and wonderful guidebook by Randy Crutcher and Barb Horn.

This month’s EnlightenUp theme takes us down a path directly to the ground we stand on, where we have a full, fresh and clean new opportunity to build the life we most desire on the firmest of foundations. Perhaps you’ve heard the saw, “wherever you go, there you are.” No matter where and or what you consider home on the outside, you always have one inside the skin you’re in too. For some, that’s all they have right now. It’s a start.

When we take a closer look at the inner “bones” from which to build our lives, we might find lots of old materials and structures holding up our view and experience of the world. Some may be well worth recycling and some may be more useful to compost, especially the thoughts and stories whose blueprint was always telling us we are not enough, don’t have enough, are not lovable or able to love. The new foundation is one built with the ever available and abundant raw materials of self-respect, self love and care. We can say that, because we believe for ourselves and you, that these energies lie right at our paws in a pile we can access, sometimes by ourselves and sometimes with a little help from our friends. And that’s what our animal wisdom cards are, if anything, another positive crewmember on your quest to build anew.

While reflecting on this theme of inner re-construction, Barb and Randy each picked a Divine Dog Wisdom Card. Barb’s was the ACCEPTANCE card and Randy picked the GRATITUDE card. No accidents here!

Accepting that we are where we are is the first step. That means identifying, claiming, then gently disposing of what no longer supports us to create the new inner foundation. Accepting that we are always and ever on a daily basis constructing our personal experience of life puts us in a better position to create the paw print upon which to build this entire year. Some already know that just gratitude alone is one of the most amazing power tools for erecting a better life. To be grateful that our life experience–the triumphs and the struggles– has brought us to this point, where we can now be, do and have what we DO want instead of continually focusing on what we DON’T want more of. We’ve been there already!

May you get off leash and out the door from any limiting thinking as you run or prowl the streets and back roads of where this one precious life of yours leads you.
